Thursday Mar 26, 2015– The Rapa Nui Parliament at the General Assembly meeting passed a resolution to close all archeological sites for tourists in the entire Rapa Nui territory.

In an effort to change the dialogue and set up a new system for tourists to pay the Rapa Nui Parliament instead of the Chilean government, hundreds of tourists were unable to enter the Rapanui National Parks. These efforts are designed to bring attention to the unregulated immigration of Chilean and foreign citizens onto the island.

The Rapa Nui Parliament are pursuing an act of peaceful civil disobedience to bring about a process for the state of Chile to recognize the inalienable rights of Rapa Nui self-determination.

Right now they an all access pass is $60 – with 50,000 tourists a year or more. That’s a nice chunk of change.
